Cardiotocography (CTG)
Cardiotocograph (CTG) is a non-invasive external electronic device that monitors the fetal heart rate and uterine contractions.
CTG is done by gently strapping two small monitors to the woman’s abdomen for at least 20 minutes. During which the woman can rest in our clinic and will feel no discomfort.
Interpretation of the CTG reading will aid in the assessment of the fetal well-being, as well as indicate if the woman is having any uterine contractions. CTG is usually done from 37 weeks of pregnancy as part of the routine weekly antenatal visit.
